The Articles is a project Andra gave us where we had to place a text that we saw from one of the fraces of the week and make a pitcher the describes it. This is a fun and creative way for the class to learn spanish and photoshop skills.
In this project I have grown in a different way than I have by others this project I can see how well I have progressed in my spanish speaking skills. In the beginning of the year I was only able to say small stuff like where's the bathroom but know I can have a one to two minute long conversation. |
A week in Mexico
The week of April 24 to the 27th I traveled to Mexico with my dad. It is a big deal because he races in the Norra 1000. This year was the 50th year anniversary of the race. It was my 16th birthday and two days before the race my dad surprised me with a race suit and a new helmet! It was the best gift ever he said that on my birthday I would do a 170 mile long stage as a co driver in the truck!
Day #1Today we got in to Ensenada Mexico at about 9:00 in the morning so we could make it to tech inspection. Tech is where the Norra Association checks to see that you have a truck that is safe to race and your helmet and race suit are safe. After tech we went to my favorite taco place in Mexico.
Day #2On the second day we started the race. I went in the chase truck so we could follow the race truck with all the spare parts incase it broke down. After the co driver changed my dads friend Jone Cole got in after one mile. The truck had fuel pump issues. We had 45 minutes of down time working on the truck and we could not figure it out. We let the truck go back on the course. We got a call on the sat phone that it happened again. We sent chase truck 2 in to help they found the problem, which was the fuel pump was vapor locking because of the heat. We cooled them down then went to the silt bed. After the silt bed my dad was watching the gage and some soft sand came up and he got stuck with lots of other cars. Omar the original co driver before the driver change took his SUV down the race course to tow them out. After two hours of down time we made it to the finish and got about 100th out 270 cars.
Day #3My dads friend Gustavo Vildosola got in the truck for the hole stage It went perfect we made up a lot of time and passed a lot of cars and got 37th over all we passed about 63 cars in that day
Day #4day 4 was on my birth day and I got to ride in the truck as a co driver it is a big deal. Communication is key. If there is a sharp right turn you say 90 right or if its on a hill you say crest 90 if it is a medium you say right 60 and if its on a hill you say crest 60 right and same for left. We did this for about a 4 hour long stage but there is no sense of time when you are in the truck we killed it on the stage we got 13 over all and where first in class even with having 15 minus down to cool the flue pumps. We would have gotten 5 over all but that will be for next year
Day #5Day five we had lots of issues the shock bolt broke at mile 50 and gustavo got stuck in the silt for an hour whatever time we made up yesterday we lost duble to day. We got 80th and second to last in class.
Day #6We made it to the finish line we had a good day but we got 4 in class and 35th overall. Next time we will get to the podium.
Day #7To day I flue back on Gustavo's privet plane it was awesome we got home in 3 hours instead of the 20 hour long drive.
